Daniel W. Connolly

Daniel Ward Connolly ( born April 24, 1847 in Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York, † December 4, 1894 in Scranton, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1883 and 1885 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1849, Daniel Connolly came with his parents to Scranton in Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1870 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started working in Scranton in this profession. In 1878 he was elected to the local district judge. But this office he could not compete due to an appeal of the Supreme Court of his State. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1880 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress yet.

In the congressional elections of 1882 Connolly was but then in the twelfth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Joseph A. Scranton on March 4, 1883. Since he has not been confirmed in 1884, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1885. Between 1885 and 1889, Daniel Connolly postmaster in Scranton. In this city he is on December 4, 1894 and passed away.
