Daniela Guergueltcheva

Daniela Gergeltschewa ( Bulgarian Даниела Гергелчева; born July 20, 1964 in Momchilgrad, often in French transcription Daniela Guergueltcheva ) is a Bulgarian table tennis player. She won the 1990 European Championship in singles.

Career

At the age of seven years Daniela Gergeltschewa began with the table tennis sport. In 1976 she won the national championships in both the pupils, young people and women. At 18, she joined the club Akademik Sofia. Since she had no serious opponent in Bulgaria at that time, they played with a special permit in the men's team this club in the first league.

In 1979, she reached the final, which they lost to the Lithuanian Jolanta Danilevičiūtė at the European Youth Championships in Rome.

Between 1979 and 1995 Gergeltschewa took part in the World Championships eight times. At the medal positions it was not enough, the best finish in 1989 was the semi-finals in doubles. In Europe Top 12 tournament she won in 1986 and 1989, 3rd place, 1992 4th place in 1988 and 1992, she represented Bulgaria at the Olympic Games.

Their greatest success was winning the European Championship in 1990 in Gothenburg, Sweden when she won the final against Tu Dai Yong ( Switzerland ). In this tournament she also won bronze in mixed doubles ( with Ding Yi ).

As of 1989, she played in France in Montpellier.

Private

Daniela Gergeltschewa studied at the Sports Academy in Sofia the tray table tennis and then dealt with the law.
