Danny Heister

Danny Heister ( born November 18, 1971 in Zevenaar ) is a Dutch table tennis player and coach.

Player

Heister is left-handed. He won 31 titles at the national championships Netherlands, 11 times in singles, 15 times in a double and five times in the mixed doubles. From 1989 to 2007, he took with the exception of 2004, all 12 World Cups. In addition, he was nominated for the European Championships in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2005. Here he reached in 2002 with double Trinko Keen the semifinals. In the European ranking tournament Europe Top 12 2000 and 2002, he came in fifth place. He qualified for the 1996 Summer Olympics, 2000 and 2004. In January 2003, he was out in the ITTF world rankings at number 16.

Heister was about 13 years active in Germany. From coming ACSF Fontenay Paris he joined in 1994 the Würzburg Kickers. In 1996 he moved to Goennern in the Bundesliga, with whom he was in 1997 DTTB Cup winner. In 2003 he was engaged by Borussia Dusseldorf. With Dusseldorf he reached the 2006/ 07 final match at ETTU Cup. In 2007 he returned to the Netherlands and joined the club FV Teylingen.

Heister is a fair sportsman. So he corrected at the German Open 1999 in the final set against Bastian Steger at 20:19 behind into a mistake by the referee to his disadvantage, which meant the final defeat.

Coach

From the beginning of 2005 had Heister as player-coach of the Dutch national team. In 2009, he was coach of the Dutch women's and youth national team. In June 2010, he took over as successor by Dirk Wagner, the coach of Borussia Dusseldorf. Here he immediately won in the 2010/11 season the treble of Champions League, league and cup. A year later, he led the team to the German championship and winning the ETTU Cup. After the failure of injured players Heister jumped into this season in some games again as a player.

Private

Heister is married to wife Nicoline. With her he has three children.
