Dardilly

Dardilly is a commune with 8450 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Rhône Rhône- Alpes region.

Geography

Dardilly located in the western Lyonnais, about ten kilometers north- west of Lyon. Neighboring municipalities are Champagne -au -Mont- d'Or, Charbonnières- les- Bains, Dommartin ( Rhône), Écully, Limonest, Lissieu and La Tour-de- Salvagny.

Policy

The council has 29 members. It consists of the Mayor ( Maire ) Michèle Vullien and eight aldermen and 20 councilors. The mayor Michèle Vullien since 1995 in office and was confirmed in 2001 and 2008, re-elected in office.

Community partnerships

Dardilly maintains partnerships with the German community Merzhausen in Baden- Württemberg, with Chorleywood in the UK and - together with the neighboring communities of Champagne -au -Mont- d'Or and Limonest - with Niabina in Mauritania.

Sons and daughters

In Dardilly the Catholic priest Jean -Marie Vianney was born, who later became known as the " Cure of Ars " and was canonized by the Catholic Church.
