Darjuš Lavrinovič

Darjus Lavrinovic ( born November 11, 1979 in Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player of Polish descent. His preferred position is that of the center.

Darjus Lavrinovic began his career in the youth of KK Alytus and celebrated in this his debut in the Lithuanian Basketball League ( LKL ). In 2003 Lavrinovic joined the traditional club Zalgiris Kaunas, where he was two league titles (2003/ 04, 2004/ 05) and even the Baltic Basketball League ( 2004/ 05) to win. In 2006 he moved to Russia to UNICS Kazan, where he played two seasons before he signed with Dynamo Moscow. In summer 2009, he moved to Spanish club Real Madrid and thus followed his coach Ettore Messina, who coached him already in the Russian capital. After only one year, he left the Spanish club and went to Fenerbahçe Ülkerspor, in the Türkiye Ligi Basketbol. With this club he became national champion as well as a year later with the dominant Russian club CSKA Moscow, with whom he also the Eastern European VTB United League. The final of the highest European club competition ULEB Euro League 2011/12 they lost however. After another season at Zalgiris, with whom he also won the national championship, he plays in the 2013/14 season for the Euro League rookie Budiwelnyk from Kiev in the Ukraine.

With the national team, he played the European basketball championships in 2005 and 2007, when he won bronze, as well as the 2006 World Cup and the 2008 Olympic Games.

His twin brother Kšyštof Lavrinovic is also a professional basketball player and Lithuanian national team. End of 1998, both brothers and a cousin were charged and convicted jointly committed rape. A short time later, the applicant withdrew her allegations and married Darjus Lavrinovic. However, the courts gave the relief no faith, in November 2000, he had to take a measured to five years in prison. He was released after about three out of prison and was able to continue his career at Alita Alytus again. The commitment marriage was divorced after only one year.
