Dârlos

Darlos ( Durles German, Hungarian Darlac ) is a village in the district of Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

The village is located five kilometers from Medias, ( Medias ) located on the Târnava Mare (Grand Kokel ) in the extreme north of the Sibiu County, on the border county of Mureş.

History

Under the name Possesió Darlaz the settlement was first mentioned in 1317. Already in the middle of the 19th century provided the Romanians in the place the majority of the population.

During the socialist period, but especially after the political changes of 1989 in Romania emigrated, the majority of the German population to Germany, so that in 1992 only 190 people from the community designated in the census as a German, as compared to 1094 people in the year 1977.

Education, economic and social

The municipality has two kindergartens and two elementary schools. The inhabitants Darlos mainly deal with agriculture and cattle raising.

Traffic

The church is on the National Road "DN 14", which leads, reachable from Sibiu ( Hermannstadt) to Sighisoara ( Sighisoara ).
