Darrell L. Bock

Darrell L. Bock ( born 1953 ) is an evangelical New Testament scholar and professor of New Testament studies at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. He received his doctoral degree in 1983 from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.

His works include the monograph " Blasphemy and Exaltation " in the collection Judaism and the Final Examination of Jesus and volumes on the Gospel of Luke in the Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament and in the commentary series New Testament Commentary Series ( Inter- Varsity Press). Bock was president of the Evangelical Theological Society. It takes true functions as co-editor for Christianity Today and has published articles in the Los Angeles Times and the Dallas Morning News.

Bock has become known for his exploration of Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code. In response to the theological implications of the novel Bock "Breaking the Da Vinci Code wrote ( " The Da Vinci Code crack " ), his most best-selling book. It represents the fact the historicity ( historicity ) of different ideas in question, since in Browns The Vinci code to be ported, and in particular the supposed marriage of Jesus to Mary Magdalene.

Bock also wrote many contributions to beliefnet.com and Christianity Today online. He wrote The Missing Gospels ( " The Lost Gospels " ) in which he argued for the existence and the legitimate priority of these early "pre- orthodox" gospels and beliefs about the non-canonical writings.

On 17 May 2006, shortly before the premiere of the film The Da Vinci Code, Bock appeared on the television program Nightline where he talked about his book and the movie. He was debating with the agnostic Bart Ehrman Bibelgelhrten on the question whether the Gospels were forged.
