Darren Ashley Bent (born 6 February 1984 in Tooting, London) is an English footballer. Since January 2011 he is under contract at Aston Villa, but is currently playing on loan at Fulham.

Career

Ipswich Town

Bent started his career in the youth department of Ipswich Town. He made his professional debut on 1 November 2001 against Helsingborgs IF in the UEFA Cup. His first goal he scored on 27 November 2001 at the 1:4 defeat to Newcastle United. The first league goal he scored on 24 April 2002 in a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough FC. In February 2003, he made his international debut in the English U21 team against Italy. The 2003/04 season he finished with 18 goals, the 2004/05 season with 19 goals and was top scorer.

Charlton Athletic
