The Thorny datura ( Datura ferox ) is a plant of the genus datura ( Datura ) in the nightshade family (Solanaceae ).

Description

The Thorny Datura is a 50 to 150 cm tall plant that is mostly hairless. The leaves are 5-14 cm long and 4-13 cm wide. You are serrated wide swinging ovate and coarsely.

The calyx is 25-40 mm long, angled and covered with 3 to 5 mm long, unequal teeth. The crown is 4 to 6 cm long, funnel-shaped and white.

The fruits are 5-8 cm long and 4-6 cm wide, ovate capsules that stand upright and jump regularly. They are staffed with 10 to 30 mm long, conical spines, of which the above are longer than the lower.

Occurrence

The species is native to East Asia, is drawn into Europe as an ornamental plant and has run wild locally.
