David C. Jones
David Charles Jones ( born July 9, 1921 in Aberdeen, South Dakota; † August 10, 2013 ) was an American former general of the U.S. Air Force and was both Chief of Staff of the Air Force as well as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Biography
After attending high school in Minot, he studied at the University of North Dakota and the Minot State College. During the Second World War he joined in 1943 in the U.S. Army Air Forces a. During his military career, he was 1960 graduate of the National War College at Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, DC.
On 1 July 1974 he was (Chief of Staff of the Air Force) appointed in the rank of General Chief of Staff of the Air Force and served in this office until 20 June 1978. Subsequent took place on June 21, 1978, he was appointed Chairman of the United Chiefs of Staff ( joint Chiefs of Staff ). In this post he remained until his retirement on 18 June 1982.
After his retirement, General Jones has worked in the private sector and Member of the Board of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). He was also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He was also a member of the evangelical network The Family.
