David E. L. Choong

David L. Choong (also known as Choong Ewe Leong or Eddy L. Choong, born April 5, 1929 in Penang, † 10 September 2011 in Tanjung Tokong ) was a Malaysian Badminton player. He was also in Penang in several political offices actively and 1961, the only alliance politicians, who moved with an MCA mandate in the City Council. His father was Choong Lye Hin, a former president of Penang.

Career

David Choong won the unofficial world championships, the All England, 1951, 1952 and 1953 in the men's doubles with his brother Eddy Choong. 1954, 1955 and 1957, they lost in the final. In 1957 he won at the French Open in mixed doubles and doubles. After his athletic career, he also worked as a politician. In 1996 he suffered a stroke from which he could recover. After a second stroke in 2002, he was nine years until his death in a coma.
