David Saint-Jacques

David Saint- Jacques ( born January 6, 1970 in Quebec ) is a Canadian astronaut who has completed no space flight.

Biography

Saint -Jacques studied technical physics at the Polytechnic of Montreal. In 1998, received by the British University of Cambridge, a PhD in astrophysics, having previously written studies on the instruments of the COAST telescope and the Canary William Herschel telescope. In closing Saint -Jacques in 2005 his training as a doctor of medicine at Laval University and worked for several years as a family physician at the McGill University.

In the years 1999-2001 Saint -Jacques was involved in the development and operation of the Subaru telescope in Hawaii. Later he became a member of the astrophysical group of the University of Montreal. Prior to his selection in the squad Canadian astronauts Saint -Jacques worked as a doctor in a clinic of an Inuit settlement in the Canadian province of Québec. He also lectured at the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University.

Astronauts activity

On 13 May 2009, the Canadian Space Agency ( CSA) Saint -Jacques appointed as a member of the third Canadian astronaut group in their astronauts squad. Saint -Jacques completed by September 2011 together with U.S. astronauts at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, the training mission specialist. Since then he has worked at JSC in the robotics department, which also includes training in the European Robotic Arm.

From the 20th - 26th October 2011 he was a member, together with the Aquanauts Commander Shannon Walker ( NASA), Takuya Onishi ( JAXA ) and Steve Squyres ( Cornell University, University of North Carolina, Wilmington ) for NASA's NEEMO undersea mission - 15th

Saint -Jacques grew up in Saint -Lambert, a suburb of Montreal, on and speaks fluent English and French. His hobbies include cycling, climbing and sailing.
