De Graafschap

The Vereniging De Graafschap Doetinchem Betaald Voetbal ( pronunciation: [ vər.e ː ː lt nə.ɣɪŋ bə.ta vut.bɑl də ː f ˌ ɣra sχɑp du.tɪn ˌ xəm. ] ) Is a Dutch football club from Doetinchem.

The name De Graafschap refers to the Achterhoek and the former county of Zutphen.

History

The club was founded on February 1, 1954 from the merger of the clubs and de Graafschap Doetinchem BVC. On 30 March 2007, the team was named after a win against FC Emmen won the First Division and played in the 2007/ 08 season in the Eredivisie, the highest Dutch league. In the first season, however, only reached the 16th place. At the end of the 2008 /09 they lost in three relegation matches the RKC Waalwijk and dismounted. 2010 reached the club by 1st place in the Eerste Divisie direct promotion back to the Premier Division.
