Deán Funes was founded as Villa de Deán Funes on March 9, 1875. Like many other cities in Argentina was also this place in connection with the railway in the country. Was named the place after the writer and dean of the Archdiocese of Córdoba, Gregorio Funes. Since October 29, 1929 Deán Funes has city rights. In the city the following countries are represented most: Spaniards, Italians, Arabs, Yugoslavs. Every year in the first half of January, a festival is held there.
