Debden tube station

Debden is an aboveground station London Underground. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 6 and is one of 14 outside of Greater London. It is located at the Rectory Lane in the village of Debden, in the Epping Forest district of the county of Essex. In the year 2011 there were 2.12 million passengers these from the Central Line station.

History

The station was opened on 24 April in 1865 by the Great Eastern Railway (GER ), as part of the new section of line between Loughton and Ongar. They first called Chigwell Road, but received on 1 December of the same year the name Chigwell Lane. Of 23 May 1916 to 2 February 1918, the station was closed due to lack of demand. From 1923 the track was owned by the London and North Eastern Railway ( LNER ).

After the nationalization of the LNER went the distance for a few months in 1948, the ownership of British Railways, which was on the not yet electrified section Shuttle trains with steam locomotives. The underground operation began on September 25, 1949, the same day the station was given its present name. In 1974, the station building was built largely new, preserved from the early days is the house of Station Board.
