Defiance (TV series)
Defiance is an American science fiction television series that is produced by Universal Cable Productions for the U.S. channel Syfy. In parallel with the series there will be an open game world an eponymous online game, a massive multiplayer online third-person shooter. The plot of the series and the game should complement it. The first broadcast took place in the United States on April 15, 2013 on Syfy, while the German -language broadcasting began with the German Syfy offshoot a day later.
Action
In a near future, a years -lasting, interstellar war between alien races and humanity, has changed the face of the earth as we know it forever. Slowly the survivors from both sides start to recover from the devastating impact. By devastated, hostile landscapes wanders the mysterious Nolan. Fate leads him to St. Louis, which he does not recognize at first. Except for the gateway arch his former home was completely destroyed and built on its ruins a new city. Defiance is a sanctuary for aliens and humans alike who need to learn now, next to and to live together - a far from easy task. So it's up to Mayor Amanda to get the fledgling peace and order in Defiance. Determined to do everything we can to help the city and its people rebuild and protect it at the same time against external threats.

In the U.S. broadcast of the first season of 15 April was up until 8 July 2013 on the cable channel Syfy. Already after four broadcast episodes of the series extended transmitter in early May 2013 for a second season with 13 episodes. These will be broadcast from 19 June 2014.
In the Pay- TV, the series first season between 16 April and 9 July 2013 were sent on the German channel Syfy. The transmitter has announced the broadcast beginning of the second season for June 20, 2014.

"It will be interesting to see whether Defiance in future oriented rather in a political series just like Battlestar Galactica or perhaps more and more towards something trashy space opera with soap elements. Both could find its fans, with supporters of serious sci-fi entertainment are but certainly still hope to increase after the somewhat checkered pilots.
