Delap

Delap is a motu in the southeast of Majuro Atoll, the Pacific Islands Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Geography

In the north of Delap is Majuro, and in the west Rairok closes ( Rairik ) to. Together with Majuro and the more northerly island Darrit ( Rita ) forms Delap the region " Delap - Majuro Darrit ". To place or district Delap still include the smaller islands Biggariat and Eniligere ( between Delap and Majuro in the north ) and Utwe and Enirak ( between Delap and Rairok the west).

Delap - Majuro Darrit (DUD ) forms a conurbation innerhalt the capital of the Marshall Islands Majuro, covers the entire atoll. In Delap, the Capitol is ( seat of Parliament ), the Marshall Islands, while the government authorities are in Darrit.

On 1 June 1998, the city or district Delap had 6339 residents, according to 5692 population in 1988. This includes the islands Biggariat and Eniligere in the north and Utwe and Enirak in the west. The area of 0.648 km ² indication is likely to refer to the same area. The islands of Darrit in the north to Enirak in the west are linked by a continuous roadway. The subsequent west island Rairok is separated by a narrow boat passage of Enirak, over the bridge, a road leads. The causeway was built during World War II from coral fragments; the road was fixed later.
