Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria

The Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria ( bulg: Демократи за Силна България, ДСБ short, or Democratic sa Silna Balgarija, short DSB) are a Bulgarian Christian Democratic and Conservative party and since 2006 a member of the European People's Party. The DSB is also a member of the International Democratic Union and the Christian Democratic International. The party color is dark blue.

The party went forth 2004 out of the party Union of Democratic Forces and sees itself as a successor to the democratic movements that have arisen after the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman Turkish rule in 1878, following the collapse of communism in 1989. Its chairman is the former Prime Minister Ivan Kostov. The motto of the party is " For a Strong Bulgaria in the united Europe " ( Bulg: За силна България в Обединена Европа ).

In the parliamentary elections in 2007, it reached 6.5 percent and 17 MP mandates. The party was the sixth strongest force in parliament.

For the European elections in Bulgaria in 2009 and the Bulgarian national elections on 5 July 2009 DSB ran as part of the Blue Coalition. In the European elections, the coalition won a mandate. In the parliamentary elections it won 6.76 percent of the vote and now ranks 15 MPs in the Bulgarian Parliament.

After the lost 2013 parliamentary elections, in which the DSB failed to enter parliament Kostov announced his resignation as party leader. On June 23, 2013 Radan Kanev was elected to Kostov proposal to the new Chairman of the DSB.
