History

Dentlein am Forst was mentioned under the name Tennlin the first time on May 8, 1397 in a document. Since January 14, 1469 a parish Dentlein is documentary evidence. The number of inhabitants increased, primarily in the mid-17th century through the immigration of displaced Protestants from the Upper Austrian Ländlein the Enns after the area around the municipality by the 30 - year war devastated and had been almost depopulated.

One theory is that the name " Dentlein " a derivative of the word Tännlein is. More likely, however, that the origin of the place name from the combination of " fir " ( for old forest ) and Leite ( slope ) has emerged Dentlein am Forst so - means " forest passing slope " - geographically conclusive.
