Derince

Derince is a Turkish port and district town and a district in the metropolitan area of Istanbul. The city is located in the province of Kocaeli, about 80 kilometers east of the Bosphorus on the northeastern coast of the Marmara Sea near the city of Izmit.

The district is a district of the city municipality ( Büyükşehir Belediyesi ) Kocaeli. It is bordered on the west by Körfez, to the east by İzmit and Kandıra, on the north by the province of Istanbul and to the south by the Gulf of İzmit.

Traffic

Through the city's motorway run O -4 ( European route 80) and the national road D 100 Furthermore, here is a station of the Anatolian Railway ( Railway Istanbul -Ankara ) as well as a haven for train ferries towards the Black Sea (Ukraine, Georgia).
