Dervio
Dervio is a municipality in the province of Lecco in the Italian region of Lombardy 2704 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Geography
Dervio located about 25 km north- west of the provincial capital of Lecco and 70 km north of the metropolis of Milan, at the mouth of Varronetales and at the foot of Monte Legnoncino and Legnone. It is drained by the river Dervio, to its delta it rests.
The municipality is divided into four districts: Borgo, in which formerly inhabited by the fishermen. Villa, situated in a panoramic height. Castello, where there is a ruined tower dating from the 3rd century and traces of older towers. Corenno Plinio, the medieval village.
The neighboring municipalities are Bellano, Cremia (CO), Dorio, Introzzo, Pianello del Lario (CO ), San Siro (CO), Sueglio, Treme Nico, Vendrogno and Vestreno.
History
Grave goods from the Gallo-Roman culture evidence of an early settlement. In the Middle Ages the parish of Dervio was the largest of the eastern shore.
Economy
The village is a popular tourist resort, arts and crafts center and has companies in the fields of metallurgy, ceramics, paper making, Feldspatgewinnung as well as his own yard.
Attractions
The ruins of Castelvedro dates from the 5th to 6th century. She was part of a defense system at the lake shore to fend off the incursions of the barbarians from Raetia ( Grisons ) can.
