Déservillers

Déservillers is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Déservillers is located at 699 m above sea level, approximately 13 km south-southwest of Ornans and 26 km south of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on a sloping hillside to the north on the plateau of Amancey that stretches between the valleys of Loue and Lison.

The area of ​​13.88 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The northern part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Amancey, the average is 630 m and is mainly consisted of meadow land. To the south, the municipality's area covers over the slope of Déservillers on a broad ridge which forms an anticline in geological- tectonic point of view and is oriented towards the west southwest- east-northeast, according to the strike of the Jurassic in this region. Here the highest elevation of Déservillers is achieved with 870 m. The ridge of operation is broken by two erosion valleys. Both streams trickle but as soon as they step out onto the plateau of Amancey. The surface of the area is karstified. There are several caves, including the Grotto of Crètes and the Grotte de Jérusalem.

Neighboring communities of Déservillers are Amancey in the north, Bolandoz in the east, Labergement -du- Navois in the south and Montmahoux and Éternoz in the West.

History

Remains of a Gallo-Roman estate, point to an early settlement of the municipality of Déservillers. In the 12th century belonged to the rule Déservillers Scey, in the 13th century to Montmahoux. After that, it made up in the 16th century a Kastlanei among the gentlemen of Ornans. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Already in 1273 a cheese factory in Déservillers is mentioned. Therefore, the place is considered as the cradle of Comté. Since 1993 Déservillers is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes Amancey - Loue - Lison.

Attractions

The Church of Sainte-Agathe was built in 1730 on the site of an earlier building. From the former church bell tower and the portal area were taken from the 15th century. Three village fountain from the 19th century. In the old town numerous farmhouses are obtained in the characteristic style of the Haut-Doubs from the 17th to 19th centuries.

Population

With 332 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Déservillers one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 581 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Déservillers was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( crops, livestock ) and embossed by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including companies in the sectors construction, information technology and woodworking. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares of the secondary road D473 which leads from Besançon Levier. Further road links exist with Ornans, Nans -sous -Sainte -Anne and Montmahoux.
