Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern

The German Radio Philharmonic Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern is a German Radio Orchestra. The orchestra was founded in September 2007 as a merger of the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra with the Radio Orchestra Kaiserslautern.

History

1951 was founded by Emmerich Smola the Radio Orchestra Kaiserslautern for the Southwest Radio. It was next to a symphony orchestra of the transmitter and was known for sophisticated entertainment music and light classics. After the SWR had become the successor of Southwest Radio and SDR, were obtained for the entirety of his now 3 orchestra ( plus Big Band ) as unfavorable financial prospects like it because of the small size of his station was the case for some time at the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra. The merger in 2007 resulted in the consequence to a situation with 152 positions, including 45 from Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken 107; but within a few years this down to 87 posts ( as of 2012) were reduced in a socially compatible.

The orchestra is supported jointly by SR and SWR, although the lead responsibility of the SR. Seat of the orchestra is Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern. Was chief conductor since 2007 Christoph Poppen, whose contract expired in the summer of 2011. He was followed starting from the season 2011/2012 of the Gibraltarian conductor Karel Mark Chichon.

Venues

Regular venues are the Congress Hall in Saarbrücken, the fruit hall in Kaiserslautern and the studios of the SR in Saarbrücken and the SWR in Kaiserslautern. Plans for a concert hall in the old Saar Philharmonic E-Werk in Saarbrücken -Burbach initiated by Christoph Poppen with, but the funding is not yet understood.

Even nationally, the orchestra has already established; it is a regular guest in Karlsruhe, Mainz, food, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Philharmonie Luxembourg. The first tours of the orchestra led in 2008 to Switzerland, in 2009 and 2010 to China to Paris. In the fall of 2011, the third trip to Japan followed with Stanisław Skrowaczewski, with this conductor, the first as German Radio Philharmonic. The fourth tour led in November 2012 to South Korea.

Guests include internationally renowned soloists such as the singers Elina Garanca, Angelika Kirschschlager and Juliane Banse, pianists like Tzimon Barto and Francesco Piemontesi, and among other things, the conductors Emilio Pomarico, Jukka -Pekka Saraste and the " old master ", Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Günther Herbig, Gennady Nikolayevich Rozhdestvensky.

The concerts of the German Radio Philharmonic are - Europe via the French-German Broadcasting Cooperation - transferred to SR 2 KulturRadio and SWR2. Television recordings on ARTE, ARD make the orchestra known to a wider audience.

Publications

After the complete recording of Mendelssohn 's symphonies, the complete recording of the Tchaikovsky Symphonies (Christoph Poppen ) and the symphonies of Brahms' contemporaries Théodore Gouvy (Jacques Mercier ) joined. Under the direction of guest conductor Stanisław Skrowaczewski are followed by the complete recordings of all eleven Bruckner symphonies all the Schumann symphonies and a CD with his own works published (all Oehms Classics ), all the Brahms symphonies.
