Dick Tärnström

Dick Tärnström ( born January 20, 1975 in Sundbyberg ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who played in the Elitserien for AIK Solna.

Career

Tärnström was selected by the New York Islanders in the 11th round at the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 as a total of 272 players. He played until 2001 AIK Solna until the jump to North America dare.

After only nine games in the farm team in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, he made ​​the jump to the Islanders, was able to prevail and immediately got a regular place. For the season 2002/ 03 he moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He spent the strike season in his native Sweden in Sodertalje SK, and then returned to the Penguins. During the season 2005/ 06 he moved to the Edmonton Oilers and reached with them the final series for the Stanley Cup.

For private reasons he joined in 2006/ 07 to Europe and played in the Swiss ice hockey club HC Lugano. In the summer of 2008 he returned to Sweden and signed a contract with the Swedish second division club AIK. In the 2009/10 season came with the team in the Kvalserien the rise in the Elitserien. In January 2013 he finished his playing career due to a back injury.
