Bridgeport Sound Tigers

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They play in Bridgeport, Connecticut in the Webster Bank Arena ( 8,412 seats).

History

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers were founded in 2001 as the American Hockey League farm team of the New York Islanders. In the first year of its existence, they celebrated their biggest success by winning their Conference and reaching the Calder Cup Finals, but in which the team the Chicago Wolves defeated in five games. Head coach at that time was the former Islanders coach Steve Stirling. The best-known former players include Trent Hunter, Rick DiPietro, Chris Campoli and Sean Bergheim.
