New Brunswick Hawks
The New Brunswick Hawks were a Canadian ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Moncton, New Brunswick. The venue for the Hawks was the Moncton Coliseum.
History
The New Brunswick Hawks were founded in 1978 and from then on were farm team of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Received a total of twice the Hawks the FG " Teddy" Oke Trophy when they were first in their division ( 1979/80, 1981/82 ). Their most successful season was the 1981/82 season, in which they both first in their division, as well as all the teams were in the regular season. In the playoffs, they finally won the Calder Cup after they prevailed 4-1 in the best- of-seven series against the Binghamton Whalers. Previously, in 1980 failed in the finals with 2:4 to the Hershey Bears.
In 1982, the Hawks were bought up by the Edmonton Oilers and renamed in Moncton Alpines. Then they played as their AHL farm team.
