Diesten is a town in the Lower Saxon town of Bergen in the northern district of Celle on the Lüneburg Heath. It is located 20 km north of Celle on the highway 240 and currently has 357 residents.

History

Diesten was first mentioned in 1235 under the name Dedestesen. To date, Diesten is dominated by agriculture and has preserved its original townscape. Districts of Diesten are located 1 km north of the village Huxahl and from 2 km to the east Lindhorst. In Lindhorst is an old, standing under nature protection oak. It should have been mentioned already in the 15th century in a document. After that, she has an age of at least 700 years.

On 1 January 1973 Diesten was incorporated into the city of Bergen.
