Dietrich of Anhalt-Dessau
Dietrich Prinz von Anhalt- Dessau ( born August 2, 1702 Dessau, † December 2, 1769 in Dessau ) was Regent of Anhalt- Dessau and Prussian field marshal.
Life
Dietrich comes from the family of the Ascanians. He was the third son of Prince Leopold I of Anhalt -Dessau and his wife Princess Anna Luise Föhse Empire. His bad luck was in 1727 the introduction of primogeniture for this house. Since his eldest brother William Gustav of Anhalt- Dessau (1699-1737) had already died before the death of his father, inherited the second oldest brother Leopold II Maximilian von Anhalt- Dessau (1700-1751) Title and power. After his death in 1751 the succession went straight to his eleven year old son, Leopold III. Friedrich Franz of Anhalt- Dessau (1740-1817) on.
Dietrich reigned from 1751 to 1758 the country as guardian for his nephew Leopold III. Friedrich Franz of Anhalt- Dessau and was instrumental in his upbringing.
For his service in the Prussian army as commander of the regiment no. 10 he was accepted in 1741 as a Knight in the Order of the Black Eagle.
Dietrich died without descendants. His town house in Dessau building later became the reform school Philanthropinum.
