Diocese of Mikkeli
The Diocese of Mikkeli (Finnish Mikkelin hiippakunta ) is one of nine dioceses of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Bishop's seat is the Cathedral of Mikkeli. The diocese comprises the southeastern part of Finland Mikkeli.
History
The Diocese of Mikkeli was originally founded in 1897 as a diocese with the Cathedral of Savonlinna Savonlinna as a bishop 's seat. 1924, the bishop's seat was moved (today Vyborg ) to Viipuri and the Diocese of Savonlinna converted to the diocese Viipuri. After Viipuri Finland ceded after the Second World War to the Soviet Union, Mikkeli in 1945 appointed as the new bishop's seat.
