Diocese of Växjö

The Diocese of Växjö ( Växjö Swedish pen ) was founded in 1170 as a suffragan of Lund. Cathedral was the church in which the relics of Sweden missionary Siegfried and his three nephews were worshiped. The heads of the nephews are to this day the coat of arms of the diocese.

Since the Reformation, the diocese of Växjö is one of the thirteen dioceses within the Church of Sweden. It consists of 222 parishes ( församlingar ) in 15 church districts.

The diocese extends in southern Sweden over parts of the provinces of Blekinge län, Jönköping County, Kalmar län with the island of Öland. Bishop's seat is the city Växjö Cathedral Växjö with the Church as a bishop. Since 2010, Jan- Olof Johansson Bishop of Växjö.
