Disarm the Descent

Disarm the Descent is the sixth studio album by American metalcore band Killswitch Engage. It was released on April 2, 2013 on Roadrunner Records. The album is the first album with vocalist Jesse Leach since Alive or Just Breathing ( 2002).

Formation and style

The album was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed by Andy Sneap. The band had announced in January 2012 the return of Jesse Leach, after the band and the previous singer, Howard Jones, went their separate ways. In an interview with Loudwire Leach described the album as the fastest disk that would Killswitch Engage ever published. He had also incorporate new singing styles: "the music is definitely the fastest Killswitch record ever, it's very heavy but still Maintains the signature Killswitch hooky, melodic stuff there too. There's definitely melody attached but I pulled out some new styles vocally, yelling and screaming and growling and layers and it sounds massive. "

Reception

The album reached # 7 on the Billboard 200 The reviews were mainly positive. On the website Metacritic.com, the album reached an average rating of 78 out of 100 based on five professional reviews.
