History

Construction and commissioning

The Disney Wonder is the second new construction project of the shipping company, which was built at the Fincantieri shipyard. In contrast to the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder was built with the hull number 5990 as a unit complete in Marghera near Venice. The transfer from the yard to the harbor Port Canaveral took place between 14 July and 2 August 1999. The ship was christened by Tinker Bell. For the first time an animated Disney character was chosen as the godfather of a ship. On 15 August 1999, the Disney Wonder went out for their first cruise.

Use

The Disney Wonder is mainly used for cruises in the Caribbean. Her home port is Port Canaveral. After the commissioning of the new building Disney Dream, the Disney Wonder will be relocated to the West Coast of the U.S. and perform from there cruises in the waters around Alaska.
