Diyadin (Armenian Տատէոն, transliteration: Tatēon; kurd. Giyadîn ) is a town in Turkey. It belongs to the province of Ağrı and is located in Eastern Anatolia. Diyadin is located in the southeast of the province, bordering the province of Van. The district has 45 238 inhabitants Diyadin, the city 20 285 (2012 ).

Geography

The main river of the district is the Murat, a source of the river Euphrates. Known mountains of the district are the Tendürek Dagi and Aladağ. Both are volcanic in origin. Due to the height Diyadins there are no forests but a steppe vegetation.
