The Murat ( Murat Turkish Nehri, even Murat Murat Suyu or Irmağı; Armenian Արածանի ( Aratsani ); Assyrian Arsania, antique Arsanias ), also Eastern Euphrates, is a river in eastern Turkey.

It forms the eastern source stream of the Euphrates, not far from Ararat rises in the mountain massif to the north of Lake Van and south of the county town Diyadin. Here are the source areas, the water has to travel to the confluence with the Karasu to the Euphrates the broadest way, which is around 720 km. From its source it flows first east and then turns into a left curve to the north west. In Diyadin it reaches its eastern section. From there it flows through mountainous terrain to the west. In the north- eastern province of Elazig it reaches the Keban Stauseee in which it unites with the water of the Euphrates Karasu.
