Dlhá nad Váhom

Dlhá nad Váhom (Slovak until the 19th century " Dlhá "; German Langendorf at the Waag, Hungarian Vághosszúfalu - to 1907 Hosszúfalu ) a place and a municipality in Okres Šaľa of Nitriansky kraj is in southwestern Slovakia. The number of inhabitants amounted to 872 (31 December 2011 ) and had at the 2001 census, a Magyar majority on.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowland on the left bank of the Vah, just opposite on the right bank lying community Kráľová nad Váhom. Dlhá nad Váhom is located on the regional road 573 between Šoporňa and Veca, a district of Šaľa and only three kilometers from the city center.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1113 in the Zoborská documents as Zumboe writing. Since 1252 the place was a property of the Premonstratensian Abbey of Turz, since the 16th century was owned by the Archbishop of Gran In the 16th and 17th centuries the town was repeatedly occupied by Turks. The main source of income for the population was agriculture, in addition, there were several mills on the Waag.

Until 1919 the town belonged in the county Neutra the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-1945 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award once again part of Hungary.

The Roman Catholic church is dedicated to the Trinity and was originally built in 1766.
