Dmitri Kalinin
Dmitri Vladimirovich Kalinin (Russian: Дмитрий Владимирович Калинин; born July 22, 1980 in Chelyabinsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player on the position of the defender, who is since May 2011 SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career
Dmitri Kalinin comes from the offspring of the Russian ice hockey club HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, for whom he made his debut in the first team in the second Russian league in the season 1995/96. The team of Tractor celebrated at the end of the promotion to the first division, so that Kalinin in the following season, his first top-flight denied the majority of the season but he played for the youth team in the third Russian league.
In the season 1997/98 he was able to establish himself in the first team and was duly selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the first round as the 18th of the Sabres. The Sabres brought the then 18 -year-olds to North America, where he played for the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL. In addition, he was pleased in his first year in North America and more than ten operations at the Rochester Americans in the AHL. The following season he mostly belonged to the squad of Americans and was nominated for four games in the NHL squad of Sabres. He scored 21 points scorer and helped the Americans to the Calder Cup final. After the season, he was appointed by the AHL in the All- Rookie team.
From the 2000/01 season onwards he was always in the squad of the Buffalo Sabres, scoring in his rookie season 22 scorer points, which earned him the ' Fred T. Hunt trophy as Sabres rookie of the year. His most point in the season the Sabres jersey he had in 2003/ 04 when he was offensive strongest defenders of the Sabres with 34 points.
During the lockout in the season 2004 /05 he played for HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Russian Super League, but returned for the 2005/06 season back to Buffalo. Because of injuries, he could only 55 games for the Sabres are on the ice and the Stanley Cup Playoffs stopped in the second round the foot. After the 2007/ 08 season, his expiring contract was not renewed in Buffalo, so that Kalinin decided in July 2008 as a free agent contract with the New York Rangers to sign. In March 2009, he gave this together with Nigel Dawes and Petr Průcha in exchange for Derek Morris to the Phoenix Coyotes from.
After 15 games for the Coyotes to Kalinin decided at end of season to return to Russia and was awarded following a contract with Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the 2009/10 season he took the first time in his career at the KHL All-Star Game in part and became the season's end to First All -Star team in the league selected. In the following season Kalinin with Salavat Yulaev Ufa won the Gagarin Cup, the championship of the KHL. In May 2011, the Russian was hired by the SKA Saint Petersburg.
Internationally
Dmitri Kalinin represented his native country at eight world championships, where he won the 2002 and 2010 silver and 2005 bronze. In the years 2008 and 2009 he won the world title with the Sbornaja respectively. He was also a member of the Russian national team at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004, at the European Junior Championships and the Olympic Winter Games 2010.
