Dogonkiria (also: Dogon Kiria ) is a rural municipality in the Department Dogondoutchi in Niger.

Geography

Dogonkiria located in the southern Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Kourfeye Centre in the north, Bagaroua in the east, in the southeast Allela, Dan - Kassari in the south, southwest and Soucoucoutane Matankari in the west. The municipality is divided into 25 administrative villages, 121 traditional villages, six villages and six storage. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Dogonkiria.

History

The rural community Dogonkiria went as an administrative unit 2002 through the course of a nationwide administrative reform from the northeastern part of the canton Dogondoutchi. In June 2008, floods destroyed 92 homes and over three tons of food supplies. About 500 residents were considered to be directly injured.

Population

At the 2001 census Dogonkiria had 46 012 inhabitants. For the year 2010 61.621 inhabitants was calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is located at the junction of the zone of rain -fed agriculture of the South to the North zone of the Agropastoralismus.
