Dolasetron is a 5 -HT3 antagonist used to treat nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy and in PONV. Dolasetron is administered in a dosage of 50 to 200 milligrams. The half-life is 7-9 hours. A further application of dolasetron is the veterinary medicine where it is also used to treat vomiting.

Side effects

Its most common side effects include: Severe allergic reactions, fast or pounding heartbeats, feeling faint or fainting, slow heartbeat, weak pulse, slow breathing, chest pain, prolongation of the QT / QTc Intervals, pain in the arm or leg, nausea, sweating. general ill feeling, headache, fatigue.

Trade names

Dolasetron came in 1997 under the trade name Anemet on the German market. The approvals were given in 2011 by the manufacturer for all formulations after intravenous administration in the cardiac arrhythmia had occurred as a side effect.
