Dolné Kočkovce

Dolné Kočkovce (Hungarian Alsókocskóc ) is a city and a municipality in the Trenčín Region Okres Púchov in northwestern Slovakia. The number of inhabitants amounted to 31 December 2011 to 1233rd

Geography

The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Waag in the broader Middle Vah region, only four kilometers from the city Púchov.

History

The place is first mentioned in 1332 in relation to a parish. 1462 appear separate villages Horne Kočkovce and Dolné Kočkovce. In the Middle Ages there was in place a salt market and a royal salt storage. The main occupation of the inhabitants was farming, beekeeping and fishing.

1980-1990 was the community administratively to the city Púchov.

2001, a new Roman Catholic church was completed.
