Dolné Saliby

Dolné Saliby (Hungarian Alsószeli ) is a municipality in western Slovakia. It is located in the Danube lowland, 116 meters above sea level, 10 km southeast of Galanta.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1217, from 1492 onwards as Alsószeli. In the Middle Ages was next to her former village Berény. Since 1246 the village belonged briefly to Heiligenkreuz Abbey. According to the charter of Charles I Robert the village in 1313 for the Kacsics family was donated.

In 1910 Dolné Saliby 2148 had predominantly Hungarian population. The village belonged until 1918 in Pressburg county of the Kingdom of Hungary. After the end of World War I, she came as a result of the Treaty of Trianon to Czechoslovakia, from 1938 to 1945 belonged to the village as a result of the First Vienna Award in turn to Hungary. After the end of World War II Dolné Saliby belonged in turn to Czechoslovakia, or since 1993 for Slovakia. According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1921 inhabitants (1500 Hungarians, Slovaks 414 ). By 1960, included the now independent village Dolny Chotar, 18 kilometers to the south, to the municipality.
