Dombes Group

The Groupe des Dombes exists as an ecumenical consortium of twenty Protestant and Roman Catholic theologians of La Francophonie since 1937. The group meets since 1948, every year in early September, from 1968 to 1997 in the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Dombes (Ain) in Lyon, since 1998 in the Abbey of Pradines (Loire).

The foundation of the group goes on Abbot Paul Couturier (1881-1953) who is also very campaigned for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, back. It strives to overcome the spiritual and theological estrangement between the churches.
