Dorstadt

Dorstadt is a municipality of the velvet municipality Oderwald ( based in Börßum ) in the district of Wolfenbüttel, in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geography

Dorstadt lies to the east of the Oder Forest between Wolfenbüttel in the north and in the south Schladen. It is located at the confluence of Warne in the Oker a few miles north of the community Börßum.

History

Dorstadt was first mentioned in documents in 1110. Eiko by Dorstadt, which had its headquarters in what is now Dorstadt, received the episcopal castle Schladen by Bishop Udo von Hildesheim. In 1167 the church was mentioned in records as Neuendorf.

600 years was connected with the monastery Dorstadt the history of the place. 1189 the Augustinian choir female pin was donated to the Holy Cross of the noblemen before Dorstadt. The monastery continuously increased his estate, by purchase of land in the neighboring villages, as far as Bruchmachtersen enlarged in the 13th century, the monastery owned 1000 acres of arable. After a " Protestant intermediate phase " returned the Augustinians in 1643. The monastery was secularised in 1802. 1810, the monastery was sold as a manor.

Religion

  • Evangelical Lutheran St. Bartholomew Church (Am fraction 10). The historic church is part of the Pfarrverband Halchter and is the southernmost of the church provost Wolfenbüttel.
  • Catholic Holy Cross Church ( Harzstraße 50). Built in 1937 and expanded in 1964, since November 1, 2006 filial church of the parish of St. Peter in Wolfenbüttel. Is located at the Church of the House of the senses, it is a self-catering house in sponsorship of the parish of St. Peter and is used by groups of up to 20 people for retreats, trainings and retreats.
  • New Apostolic Church ( On Förstergarten 8). The services of the church founded in 1957 were initially undertaken in the old school in the south village, in 1977 a church was built. The municipality belongs to the church district of Wolfenbüttel.
