Douglas James Jardine

Sir James Douglas Jardine KCMG OBE (* October 13, 1888, † December 11, 1946 ) was a British colonial governor.

Life

Jardine attended Westminster School and then Trinity College, Cambridge, graduated in 1910 as Bachelor and Master, 1910.

As a member of the British colonial service, he served in the years 1910 to 1927 in Cyprus, Somalia and Nigeria. In 1918 he was Officer of the Order of the British Empire ( OBE). 1921 was followed by the transfer to Tanganyika, where he was first deputy and 1928-1934 even Chief Secretary of the Government. During his tenure, he held there in 1929 Governor Sir Cameron and took his official business was. In 1932 he was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George.

From 1934 to 1937 he was governor and commander in chief of British North Borneo, and on May 21, 1937 to July 5, 1941 Governor of Sierra Leone.1938 he was Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George. In his last political use he was from 1941 to 1943 Governor of the Leeward Islands.
