Duma (Arabic دوما, French Douma also ) is the administrative center of the homonymous district and the Syrian governorates that parent Rif Dimaschq. Duma is located about 660 m above sea level. Level, has 117 679 inhabitants ( 2007). This Duma is the ninth largest city in Syria. It belongs to the northeastern agglomeration of the capital, Damascus, and the centers of the two cities are about 10 miles apart.

After the town Zabadani 30 km northwest of Damascus - - On January 21, 2012, the city for a few hours was the second city, which was occupied by the armed opposition against Bashar al -Assad.
