Dunajská Streda District

The Okres Dunajská Streda is an administrative unit in southwestern Slovakia, with a population of 114 217 (2004, 2001, 112 384 there, of which 15,741 Slovak ( 14.0 %) and 93 660 Hungarian ( 83.3 %) ) and an area of 1,075 km ².

The district is bordered to the south of the Danube, following the course of Hungary, in the north- west by the district Senec ( already belongs to Bratislavský kraj ) in the northeast to the district Galanta and on the east by the district Komárno in Nitriansky kraj.

Historically, it is for the most part in the former county Pressburg ( northwest), a smaller portion in the southeast part of the former county Komárom and the area around the place Baloň the former county Raab (see also List of historic counties of Hungary ).
