Planet

Since January 2001 there has been in Durmersheim working groups of Agenda 21, which operate at the local level voluntary basis for sustainable development of the community. On the initiative of the agenda - groups of the plan of creating a " planetary path " was recorded and, with the help of the "Star Friends Durmersheim ", realized several years ago. The Planet illustrates the traveling or biking visitors, the size, structure and size of our solar system using a scaling down by a factor of one in a billion. The solar model has its location as the starting point of the planet path, on the lawn in front of the town hall of Durmersheim. At the chosen scale, the sun has a diameter of 1.4 meters. The earth model then has a diameter of 13 mm and is 150 meters from the sun model. As a support system for the planet models are gabions, which are arranged in the scale distance from the Sun. The models of the voiced ( dwarf ) planet Pluto and Eris are then removed beeline standard 6 to 10 km from the sun model and are in Mothern on the other side of de Rhine. This Alsatian location of the Planet was even " European" and connected to the Pamina -Rhine Park trail system and therefore it is also called " PAMINA Planet ". From the Sun to Saturn model, it is a short walk, to Uranus or Pluto there are hikes of about 7 km easier path length. To get to Pluto and Eris model, one should eg use the bicycle area and crossing into Neuburgweier ferry the Rhine. The Planet is also recommended as a beautiful cruise on the River Rhine floodplain.

Bickesheimer pilgrim path

As a "discovery path " was within the Pamina -Rhine park, on the initiative of the local Agenda 21 group, created in 2012, the " Bickesheimer pilgrims path ". This 18 km long trail begins and ends at about 1000 year old pilgrimage church of Maria Bickesheim. The in the Rhine valley extending, marked with the oval " Pamina -Rhine Park Shield " way, hardly contains gradients and is therefore ideally suited for walkers and cyclists. It leads from Durmersheim to Rheinstetten - Mörsch, Neuburgweier, Au am Rhein and Würmersheim back to the starting point, while it is true in churches and chapels the treasures of sacred art, from Gothic and baroque to contemporary, to explore in the region. So you can, for example, visit in Maria Bickesheim frescoes from the 14th century and in Neuburgweier are in the Church of St. Ursula and to see objects in the cemetery of the contemporary artist Emil Wachter. The same artist also the parish church of St. Andrew painted in Au am Rhein, there is also noteworthy that, created by Wachter, large glass rosette. The " Bickesheimer pilgrims path " also passes many old field and wayside crosses and parts of the pathway probably run parallel to a medieval pilgrimage route from the east coming over Bickesheim and the Rhine at Au, led to historically significant monastery of Wissembourg in Alsace.
