Mothern

Mothern is a municipality with 2027 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France.

Geography and History

Mothern bordering the Federal Republic of Germany. The Rhine forms the border. In the past, the current branched into numerous main and side arms. In the former river bed, two settlements, the skin -Village and Lower Village were at least be mentioned. Known, the Rhine was straightened after the plans of engineer Tulla, so that Mothern much later grew to a population of just 2000 people. Today, tourism plays an important role there.

Infrastructure

The transport network consists of neighborhood and side streets as well as the departmental road D248 and a railway SNCF.
