Echo is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) in Yellow Medicine County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, Echo had 278 inhabitants.
Geography
Echo is located at 44 ° 37'01 " north latitude and 95 ° 25'03 " west longitude and extending over 2.62 km ².

Traffic
The Minnesota State Route 67 runs north -south direction on the western outskirts of Echo. All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways or urban roads.
In west-east direction, a railway line in the Minnesota Prairie Line runs through the center of Echo.
The Granite Falls Municipal Airport is located 27 km northwest of Echo. The nearest major airport is the Minneapolis -Saint Paul International Airport (208 km east).
History
After the land was settled around the present site of Echo Indians of the Dakota, the first white settlers arrived in the 1870s in the area.
In 1874, the still-existing Echo Township was founded, to the present-day local area then still belonged. 1892 approved the Countyverwaltung the application establishing an independent municipality and echo was removed as Village of Echo from the same Township.
The congregation grew, not least by its location on a railroad track. The first electric street lighting was installed in 1912, which was made possible by a dedicated power plant, the plant. 1926 a new, still existing school was built on the site of the previously burnt down school of 1895.
