Ed Perlmutter

Edwin George "Ed" Perlmutter ( born May 1, 1953 in Denver, Colorado ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party.

On November 7, 2006, he defeated his Republican challenger Rick O'Donnell with 55 % to 42 % and represented since 4 January 2007 7 electoral district of Colorado in the House of Representatives of the United States. Previously, he had from 1995 to 2003 a member of the Senate from Colorado. In his election he was the first Democrat in 30 years to win this district in Jefferson County again.

He is a committee member of the Financial Services Committee of the House of Representatives.

Personal

Ed Perlmutter went to Jefferson High School in Edgewater, Colorado, and then attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he studied history, economics and political science. In 1978 he received his degree. Perlmutter and his wife Deana have three children.
