Edmar Castañeda

Edmar Castañeda (born 1978 in Bogota ) is a Colombian jazz harpist.

Life and work

Edmar Castañeda processed in his music of Colombian and Venezuelan music and the Joropo, Argentine music and Zamba. In 2006 his debut album Cuarto de Colores ( with Paquito D' Rivera and Marshall Gilkes ), followed by Entre Cuerdas, with guitarist John Scofield and vibraphonist Joe Locke as guests. He also worked with Wynton Marsalis, John Patitucci, Marcus Miller, Giovanni Hidalgo, Lila Downs, Janis Siegel, Chico O'Farrill and The United Nations Orchestra.

2010 Castañeda was taken from Kritikerpoll the downbeat in the Rising Stars category; In the same year he was honored at the Awards JJA Jazz Journalists Association in the category of players rarely instruments used. Edmar Castañeda works 2012 with a trio of Shlomi Cohen ( saxophone) and Dave Silliman (drums).
